Oil Massage in Bangkok (2026): Hot Oil & Aroma Oil Massage Prices, and Where to Go
Updated
Also available in: 日本語
Oil massage is the gentle alternative to a Thai massage: long, flowing strokes with warm oil on a massage bed, aimed at relaxing your muscles rather than stretching them. In Bangkok you'll see it on menus as Thai oil massage, hot oil massage and aroma or aromatherapy oil massage. Here's what each one is, what it costs in 2026 and where to go. Chain prices are from their official menus, checked in October 2026.
Oil massage prices in Bangkok (2026)
- Local shops: usually ฿100–200 more than their Thai massage, so about ฿350–600 for an hour. On the On Nut massage street (Sukhumvit Soi 77/1), oil massage is roughly ฿350–500 an hour.
- Health Land: aromatherapy body massage ฿1,200 for 90 minutes or ฿1,500 for 2 hours; with herbal compress ฿1,850 for 2 hours. Same price at all 9 branches.
- Let's Relax: aromatherapy oil massage ฿1,400 for 60 minutes or ฿2,800 for 2 hours; warm oil massage ฿1,600 for 60 minutes; hot stone massage ฿2,400 for 90 minutes. Service charge included.
- Asia Herb Association: oil massage with a fresh herbal ball from ฿1,750 for 90 minutes, tax and service included.
- Coran Boutique Spa (Sukhumvit 15): herbal ball with aromatherapy ฿1,650 for 2 hours, or ฿1,850 with hot oil.
- In your hotel room: PLEASE Massage charges ฿1,290 for 2 hours of oil or aromatherapy massage, with no travel fee.
- Luxury hotel spas: signature oil massages typically ฿3,500–8,000 for 90 minutes, plus 10% service charge and 7% VAT.
Thai oil, hot oil or aroma oil: what's the difference?
- Thai oil massage: an oil massage that borrows some Thai techniques, such as pressure along the body's energy lines, but without the big stretches. Firmer than a typical Western oil massage.
- Hot oil (or warm oil) massage: the oil is warmed before use, which feels good on tight muscles and in air-conditioned rooms.
- Aroma oil or aromatherapy massage: the oil is blended with essential oils, often a choice of calming (lavender) or energising (lemongrass). Many spas let you smell and pick one.
- Hot stone massage: warm stones are used along with the oil. Offered at day spas such as Let's Relax.
Oil massage or Thai massage?
Choose oil massage if you want to relax, have sore muscles after a long flight, or don't like being stretched and pressed hard. Choose Thai massage if you want firm pressure and stretching, prefer to stay clothed, or want the cheapest option, since oil costs a little more. Many people book Thai massage one day and oil the next. Our Thai vs oil massage guide compares them in detail.
What to expect
- You'll be shown to a private room or a curtained area with a massage bed.
- You undress to your underwear. Most spas provide disposable underwear, and you stay covered with a towel throughout; only the area being massaged is uncovered.
- The therapist asks about pressure and any areas to avoid. Say "bao bao" for gentle or "nak nak" for stronger.
- Oil stays on your skin afterwards. Mid-range and day spas such as Health Land have showers; at small shops, bring a top you don't mind getting a bit oily.
- Tip as for any massage: about ฿50–100 for an hour at a shop, ฿100–200 for 2 hours you enjoyed.
Finding a legit oil massage
Oil massage is the treatment dodgy shops in nightlife areas like to advertise, so a few checks help. A legit shop has a printed menu with set prices for oil and aromatherapy, staff in uniform, a bright shop front and towels, and it never mentions "extras", a "VIP room" or a big tip up front. Avoid shops on the nightlife strips around Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and Patpong if you want a regular massage, and stick to chains, day spas and the shops in our directory.

- Something different: Asia Herb Association in Phrom Phong, oil massage finished with a fresh herbal compress.

- A treat: a hotel spa for a long signature massage in a private suite.
