Learn Thai Massage in Bangkok: Schools, Courses & Prices
Updated
Bangkok is one of the best places in the world to learn traditional Thai massage. Courses run from one-day introductions for travellers to multi-week professional programmes with certificates, and many schools teach in English.
Wat Pho Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School
The most famous school in Thailand is attached to Wat Pho, the temple considered the birthplace of Thai massage. Founded in 1955, it offers Thai massage, foot massage and professional courses of roughly 60 to 165 hours, with prices starting from around ฿9,000. It's in the old town, near MRT Sanam Chai.
Chetawan Health Center
Chetawan is the Wat Pho school's training and treatment centre near Tha Tien pier — a good place to get a massage from trained therapists, and a gateway to the school's courses.
TTC Massage Spa School
TTC teaches Thai massage, foot reflexology and spa treatments in shorter, practical courses and also has a massage shop where you can book a treatment. Their Phetchaburi Road school is near MRT Phetchaburi.
Choosing a course
- Beginners: a 5-day general Thai massage course is enough to learn a full-body routine you can practise at home.
- Foot massage: 3–5 day reflexology courses are popular with travellers and spa workers.
- Professionals: look for longer courses with a recognised certificate if you want to work as a therapist.
- Book ahead in high season (November–February).
Course content, dates and fees change regularly — check the school's official website before you book.
