How to plan your spa day
- Book ahead, especially at weekends, and check the cancellation policy: hotel spas usually charge in full for late cancellations.
- Arrive early: hotel spas include steam rooms, saunas or pools before your treatment, and the time is part of what you're paying for.
- Eat lightly beforehand, and avoid a heavy meal right before a long massage.
- Weekdays are cheaper at some spas: Banyan Tree charges less Monday to Thursday.
- A spa day pairs well with a late flight home: many spas have showers, and onsen branches stay open until midnight.
