Last Day in Bangkok: Massage and a Shower Before Your Late-Night Flight
Updated
Many flights home from Bangkok leave close to midnight, while hotel checkout is at noon. That leaves a hot, sticky afternoon and evening with your luggage and nowhere to shower. A massage with a shower is the classic fix. Here are the options, from onsen spas in the city to spas next to the airport, with what we could confirm as of October 2026. Prices and hours change, so check the day before.
Step 1: sort out your luggage
- Most Bangkok hotels will keep your bags for free until the evening of checkout day. Ask at reception when you check out.
- At Suvarnabhumi, left-luggage counters on the basement level (Airport Rail Link zone) charge about ฿100 per bag per day, open 24 hours.
- At Don Mueang, left luggage costs about ฿100 per bag for up to 24 hours, with counters in Terminals 1 and 2.
Option 1: an onsen spa in the city (open until midnight)
Japanese-style onsen spas are the most comfortable choice: you get hot baths, a sauna, proper showers and a massage in one place, and both of these stay open until midnight.
- Let's Relax Onsen & Spa Thonglor: 5th floor of Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit 55, on Thong Lo road (nearest BTS: Thong Lo). Open daily 10:00 to 24:00. Onsen about ฿750 for 60 minutes; a two-hour Thai massage about ฿1,300. Sauna, steam room, showers and lockers.
- Yunomori Onsen & Spa: A-Square, Sukhumvit Soi 26 (nearest BTS: Phrom Phong). Open 10:00 to 24:00. Onsen day pass about ฿650; a one-hour Thai massage about ฿650. Last bookings: 22:00 for two-hour treatments, 23:00 for one-hour treatments.
Regular massage chains are less predictable. Showers usually come with oil or scrub treatments, and some branches do not offer one after a dry Thai massage. If you want a shower at a regular spa, book an oil treatment and ask for the shower when you book.
Only need a shower? Easy Drop, a luggage service, sells showers at its Siam branch for about ฿180 (open 10:00 to 21:30) and keeps bags by the hour.
Option 2: a spa next to Suvarnabhumi Airport
If you would rather get close to the airport first and relax without watching the traffic, these are near Suvarnabhumi (BKK):
- The Spa at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport: the former Novotel, renamed in February 2025, and still the only hotel linked to the terminal by an underground walkway. The spa is on the 2nd floor of the Pool Wing, with a sauna, whirlpool and a shower in each treatment room. Thai massage costs roughly ฿1,900 and up depending on length. Hours are reported as 10:00 to 22:00 with last treatments around 20:30, but sources disagree, so book ahead.
- Praan Spa: about 15 to 20 minutes by car from BKK. Open 09:00 to 21:00. Free luggage storage, private shower suites, a private onsen suite (about ฿690) and Thai massage from about ฿900. We could not confirm an airport shuttle for spa-only guests, so plan on a taxi.
- Let's Relax at Courtyard by Marriott Suvarnabhumi: 2nd floor of the hotel on Lat Krabang Road. A two-hour Thai massage is about ฿1,200. The hotel runs an airport shuttle; ask whether spa guests can use it.
- Siam Mandarina Hotel: about 10 minutes from BKK, with a free 24-hour airport shuttle. It rents day-use rooms with a private shower (about ฿800 for two hours) and has its own spa, Chevasuk Massage & Spa (open 11:00 to 23:00).
Option 3: inside Suvarnabhumi Airport
- Massage before security: a shop in the basement near the Airport Rail Link entrance offers Thai, foot and neck massage, with prices reported around ฿400. Landside shops are generally cheaper than those after immigration.
- Massage after immigration: Sensib Thai Massage has counters in Concourses A and E (level 4), open 24 hours. It is convenient but pricier, and online reviews are mixed.
- Showers: there are no free showers. After immigration, a paid lounge (about US$30 to US$46 for three hours) is the usual way to get one, but not every lounge has showers, so check before you pay. The Miracle Transit Hotel rents rooms by the hour.
- Before immigration, the only showers come with a room: Boxtel and Avagard Capsule Hotel in the basement rent rooms for about ฿1,200 to ฿1,500 for four hours.
Our guide to massage at Suvarnabhumi Airport has more on the shops inside the terminal.
Flying from Don Mueang (DMK)?
- Terminal Massage is on the 2nd floor of Terminal 2 (domestic), and there is massage after security in both terminals.
- Showers: Sleep Box by Miracle in Terminal 2 (4th floor) sells showers for about ฿300. The Travel Club Lounge in Terminal 1 (international) has showers and is open 24 hours.
- Amari Don Muang Airport Hotel, reached by a covered walkway from Terminal 1, rents day-use rooms from about ฿1,500 for four hours, but only between 04:00 and 22:00.
A sample timeline for a 00:30 flight from Suvarnabhumi
- 12:00: check out and leave your bags at the hotel.
- 12:00 to 17:00: lunch and last sights.
- 17:30 to 20:00: onsen, massage and shower at a city spa.
- 20:00: collect your bags.
- 20:30: leave for the airport. A taxi from Sukhumvit takes 45 to 75 minutes and costs about ฿400 to ฿500 on the meter plus tolls. The Airport Rail Link from Phaya Thai takes about 30 minutes for ฿45 and runs until about midnight.
- 21:30: at the airport, three hours before departure, as the airport recommends for international flights.
Avoid leaving for the airport during the evening rush, roughly 16:30 to 19:30, if you can. And if you have a long flight ahead, a relaxing oil or foot massage is often a better choice than a very strong Thai massage right before boarding.
