Massage in Bangkok for Women (2026): Female Therapists, Safe Spas and Solo Travel Tips
Updated
Also available in: 日本語
If you're a woman travelling solo and want a massage in Bangkok with zero stress, the safest bet is a chain with a proper reception desk near a BTS station, or a spa in calm, residential Phrom Phong. Good examples: the Japanese-owned At Ease in Phrom Phong, Health Land in Asok, and Let's Relax in Terminal 21. Skip very late hours and the nightlife streets, and you're very unlikely to run into trouble. This guide reflects information as of October 2026. Prices and opening hours change, so check before you go.
How to tell a massage shop is safe
- There's a reception counter and a clearly displayed price list (menu).
- Nobody is touting for customers outside the door.
- Before the massage starts, they ask about pressure, any sore spots and health conditions.
- Oil massages happen in a private room or a clean curtained-off space, and you're given disposable underwear or a change of clothes.
- Reviews mention things like "clean", "female staff".
Phrom Phong: a calm residential area
Phrom Phong is a quieter, residential area with plenty of well-run spas. At Ease is Japanese-owned and has three branches within walking distance of BTS Phrom Phong. The Sukhumvit 33/1 branch is open daily from 9:00 to 24:00 and is known for attentive service, such as tea before and after your treatment. Asia Herb Association, known for its herbal compress (herbal ball) treatments, is also on Sukhumvit 24 near BTS Phrom Phong.
Station-linked and big-chain spas: easy and predictable
- Let's Relax Terminal 21: 6th floor of Terminal 21, directly connected to BTS Asok. Open daily 10:00 to 24:00. Thai massage 120 minutes 1,300 baht, foot massage 60 minutes 875 baht (official menu).
- Health Land Asok: Sukhumvit 21 (Asok Road). Thai massage 120 minutes 700 baht, foot massage 60 minutes 400 baht. A large building with mostly private rooms. On weekends, booking 24 to 48 hours ahead is recommended.
- Health Land Sathorn: 120 North Sathorn Road. Open 9:00 to 23:00. In the business district, with a calm atmosphere.
How to ask for a female therapist in Bangkok
Most shops can arrange a female therapist if you ask when booking or at reception. In English, just say "Female therapist, please." In Thai: ขอหมอนวดผู้หญิงค่ะ (khor mor nuat phu-ying kha). For an oil massage, it's worth mentioning when you book. At Let's Relax, male therapists work only at select branches, and they don't do oil or spa massages.
Good to know if you're pregnant: Let's Relax does not accept pregnant clients, and it accepts clients aged 7 to 60.
Streets and times to avoid
- Sukhumvit Soi 23 (around Soi Cowboy), Soi 11 (around Nana), and the Patpong and Thaniya area of Silom are nightlife districts, and not every "massage" shop there is a regular massage shop.
- Avoid small shops after midnight, and get home on the last BTS train (around midnight) or with a ride-hailing app (Grab, Bolt).
- Keep valuables with you during the massage or in a locked locker.
- If anything feels even slightly uncomfortable, it's completely fine to say "stop" and end the session. Pay what the price list says and leave.
Prices and tipping
- Local street-side massage shops: Thai massage 250 to 400 baht per hour.
