Khao San Road Massage Guide: Prices, Where to Go & What to Expect
Updated
Khao San Road and the streets around it — Rambuttri, Samsen and the lanes towards the Giant Swing — are packed with massage shops, from open-air foot massage chairs on the pavement to air-conditioned shops with private curtains. It's one of the cheapest and most fun places in Bangkok for a massage, and many places stay open late.
Street chairs vs. shops
- Street foot massage: reclining chairs on Khao San Road itself, great for people-watching. Usually sold in 30-minute slots and among the cheapest massages in Bangkok.
- Shops on Rambuttri and Samsen: quieter, air-conditioned, with mattresses for full-body Thai massage. Slightly pricier but much more relaxing.
- Traditional: Wat Pho, the birthplace of Thai massage, is about 2 km away — worth the trip for an authentic session.
Prices around Khao San
Expect roughly ฿150–250 for a 30-minute foot massage on the street and about ฿250–400 for a one-hour Thai massage in a shop. Oil massage usually costs ฿100–200 more. Prices are posted outside almost every shop — compare a few before you sit down.
When to go
